| In an interview with Frontline in November 2003, Nobel Laureate Shirin Ebadi stated, "The concept of the 'clash of civilizations' is not right. We need to talk about the parallelism and bonds of harmony that exist amongst the various religions and civilizations, not their respective divergence." At the Center for the Study of Political Parallelism, we couldn't agree more. Indeed the main goal is to uncover hidden parallels between various nations, states, religions, and historical events. The Center's research is heavily influenced by Freudian, Weberian, Lasswellian, elite and psycho-historical perspectives, though alternative approaches are also welcome. The main goal of the Center is to show the value of psychological and sociological explanations for historical trends over time. If you are involved in similar research, do not hesitate to contact the Center as we are always looking for fresh and innovative ideas. We are particularly interested in economic theories as this would act as a useful supplement to the obviously limited Freudian and Weberian theories. Theories which explain or predict action within the current world system are especially welcome. These types of approaches are of interest because they allow for the mobilization of prudence. As the saying goes, "prevention is the best medicine." |
